Frequently Asked Questions About Visiting Moreton Island

Q: I would like to take my car across on the ferry to Moreton Island, can I do this?

A: Providing your vehicle is a 4WD, you can drive it on the island. Moreton Island is the third largest sand island in the world and has no sealed roads. All the tracks on the island are built for 4WD vehicles only. It is not recommended to bring an All Wheel Drive vehicle across as they are too low for proper clearance of the tracks.

Q: I have never driven on sand before, is it difficult?

A: So long as you ensure your vehicle is on four wheel drive mode and you reduce your tyre pressure to manufactureres specifications prior to driving off the ferry, you will be fine. If you are a beginner, take it slow and have a look at the map provided to you in your ticket pack so you know where you are going.

If you are nervous or would like a few pointers, please don't hesitate to ask our friendly staff aboard the Micat on your way over.
